Photographic documentation of public bins in the streets of Singapore. Part of a project (forming cityscapes) by gideon-jamie.

Forming Cityscapes is a project where we obsessively photograph fragments of the urban environment in Singapore to document 'lived experiences' that challenges popularised ideas of the country as 'clean and green' city or infamous claims of it being an 'inauthentic' city. By deliberately focusing on quotidian activities and interactions of city inhabitants against spaces, structures, and designs administered by the state, the conglomerate of images reveal creative forms of appropriation (or resistances) and actual use of urban objects and structures that indirectly critique 'top-down' design implementations, and interestingly suggest other micro possibilities through 'design by use'.
