01    nos:books [TW]

nos:books is an independent publisher founded by artist Son Ni in 2008 in Taipei, joined by Hong Kong artist Chihoi since 2014. They strive to realize artists’ ideas and concepts in unique book forms. Their books are limited edition works by artists from Taiwan and abroad, highlighting the artists' lesser known part of their creations. Since late 2020, they also run a space about books called nos:bookspace. ︎ ︎

02    The Institute of Critical Zoologists [SG]

The Institute of Critical Zoologists (The ICZ) is an artistic and publishing platform founded by Singapore artist Robert Zhao Renhui. Through books, photographs, videos, and installations, The ICZ examines how humans observe, classify, and imagine animals and nature. Moving between field research, archival material, and speculative narration, its publications question how knowledge about the natural world is produced and circulated, while proposing other ways of seeing the non-human world. ︎ ︎

03    cuspdot 卡斯普多特 [CN]

An ordinary cusp occurring as the caustic of light rays in the bottom of a cup, and is an element that appears in everyone's life on a daily basis. cuspdot is concerned with the everyday and wants to organize and self-govern through a collaboration based on the principles of horizontality and co-responsibility. It is a living, organic compositional process that is constantly constructed and proceeds through listening, communication, emotion and care. cuspdot cares about how the space as a whole continues to function in a healthy way, and wants everyone in the collaboration to be cared for more. ︎ ︎


04    Holycrap [SG]

Holycrap is a family art collective made up of two parents and two kids. They publish Rubbish Famzine and other small publications about the things they love, from the everyday to the unexpected. Most are made together around the dining table, though some are solo projects by individual members. Each one is a record of where their curiosity took them. ︎

05    Atelier HOKO [SG]

Atelier HOKO (2002) is an independent creative practice that focuses on the study of the growing disengagement between people, things and space. The atelier hopes to cultivate in people, an open-ness and ability to un-know, bringing about a heightened curiosity towards all phenomena by taking a fresh look at reality. Founded by Alvin Ho and Clara Koh. ︎ ︎


06    Street Report [SG]

Street Report is a publication series of accounts describing in detail situations or events on the street, usually from the result of observation and inquiry by a Street Reporter. ︎

07    Bird Pit [KR]

Bird Pit (aka Seungwhan Kim) is an artist based in Seoul. He works primarily through drawing, continuously exploring its potential across books, objects, and doll figures. Viewing humanity from a bird’s perspective, he imagines people as if they are caught in a vast pit—an idea that shapes works both cynical and playfully expressive. His practice reflects a curiosity about duality and paradox, capturing the tension between observation and participation, distance and intimacy. ︎

08    Part Time Book Club [SG]

Part Time Book Club (PTBC) began in November 2024 as a spontaneous initiative between two friends, Shu and Ming. PTBC was sparked by a simple truth: there are far too many good art books out there in the world, and not enough time to discover them alone. What began as a shared curiosity has since grown into a community-powered space where art book lovers come together to connect and uncover new titles. PTBC gatherings typically take the form of ad-hoc gatherings focused on the sharing and discovery of (art) books. ︎

09    dmp editions [TW]

dmp editions is a practicing field based in Taipei, Taiwan that involves a multidisciplinary approach to publishing, content editing, archiving and all things related to book-making. They work closely with Taiwanese artists, writers, editors, and curators to offer new ways of seeing and thinking as well as developing alternative narratives portrayed through the pages of a book from where they stand. ︎ ︎
 

10    yoon.miwon [KR]

Captivating obsessive repetition, yet seeking peace in it. Yoon Miwon makes self-published books based on experimental animation, drawings and snapshots. ︎ ︎

11    Extensive- Copyright/Reserved [ID]

Extensive is the independent publishing line of COPYRIGHT/RESERVED. Rooted in fine art, they approach design not as problem-solving, but as a space to raise questions, express, and celebrate.

Extensive comes from their ongoing commitment to (E)xperiment—expanding thoughts, forms, and collaborations beyond fixed outcomes. They see publishing as an open field: a place for ideas, resistance, gestures, and state of being to coexist. Rather than seeking resolution, they embrace process, intuition, and exchange.

Extensive is where thoughts extend freely, collectively, and without the need to settle. ︎ ︎

12    Reliable Copy [IN]

Reliable Copy is a publishing house and curatorial practice for works, projects, and writing by artists. Reliable Copy publishes books and documents, curates screenings and exhibitions, undertakes research projects, and hosts a wide variety of public programming. Reliable Copy is based in Bangalore, India, and was founded in 2018. It is represented by the artists Nihaal Faizal and Sarasija Subramanian. ︎ ︎

13    EBOOKS [Yumiko Tashiro/Rio Ebato] [JP]

EBOOKS is a unit of Yumiko Tashiro and Rio Ebato who make small numbers of self-published art books. EBOOKS means Nice books. ("Nice" is "E" in Japanese.) They create nice and unique artworks by using photos, texts and drawings. ︎ ︎

14    Robineggpie [KR]

Dongchul Sin, who works under the pseudonym Robineggpie, creates art books and prints based on black-and-white drawings and detailed illustrations. He has participated in art book fairs in various cities such as Berlin, Seoul, Tokyo, and Singapore, where he engages with a wide range of audiences. For illustration commissions, he has collaborated with aespa, RIIZE, MUSINSA, and the pizza restaurant IZZA. He is currently teaching illustration at Hongik University and the Paju Typography Institute (PaTI). ︎ ︎

15    abC & DREAMER FTY梦厂 [CN]

abC is an institutional platform dedicated to promoting local artistic creation and practices in China. Beginning with the “book” as a point of departure, abC opens up possibilities for reading and exchange. Maintaining a forward-looking perspective, abC engages in multidisciplinary and cross-media explorations, focusing on forms of expression rooted in medium, materiality, and authorship, while uncovering the potential and value of independent culture. We reinterpret abC as “a not b but C” — a willingness to open alternative paths, moving between convention and contradiction, and engaging with the world through fluid and evolving ways of thinking.

DREAMER FTY 夢廠, founded in 2007, takes self-publishing as a medium of artistic creation, connecting a wide range of independent creators. ︎ ︎

OMSCIC COMICS makes experimental comics about form, time, space, and causality. ︎


17    BANGKOK ART BOOK FAIR [TH]

BANGKOK ART BOOK FAIR (BKKABF) is a biennial event in Bangkok that brings together local and international publishers, artists, and makers working in self-publishing and independent practices. Since its launch in 2017, it has developed as an active platform within the region, connecting voices across Bangkok, Southeast Asia, and beyond.

During its off-cycle years, BKKABF stays active by traveling and participating in fairs to stay connected with the wider art book community, meet new collaborators, and exchange ideas. It is also an opportunity to share a glimpse of Bangkok’s publishing scene, introducing the people, energy, and perspectives that shape our community. ︎ ︎

THEBOOKSHOW tries to make books for artists, while Some Useless Books tries to make useful useless books. ︎ ︎ ︎


19    Temporary Press [SG]

Temporary Press is a small publisher producing content around art and design in the form of artist books, critical texts, and everyday research, with an interest in incidental ideas and alternative practices. The press often relies on economical and improvisational design and production methods, often with a black-only Risograph and simple tools. ︎ ︎

20    NEUTRAL COLORS [JP]

NEUTRAL COLORS is an independent publisher, it is also the name of the magazine it publishes, as well as the name of the bookbinding company. The three are organically connected. The publishing style of NEUTRAL COLORS is to have a small group of people getting together to handle everything from printing, and binding to distribution. They aim to create an economically sustainable medium-scale publishing company that is somewhere between mass commercial printing and small-volume independent printing. (Approximately 5000 copies for magazines / 300–1000copies for Books and Art books.) ︎ ︎

21    benjamiiiiiin [SG]

benjamiiiiiin is a collective of zine makers hailing from various backgrounds - from fine arts and design to literature - who crave a creative outlet. With a shared curiosity of the everyday, this gathering of different interests, skills, and perspectives play out in a supportive space for the discussion and development of ideas and new works. ︎

22    MULU OFFICE [TW]

MULU OFFICE is a publishing and book design studio based in New Taipei City, Taiwan. Founded by visual artists Liu Chao-Tze and Zhou Junsheng in 2021, MULU has been actively experimenting with different ways of transforming images into pages. In addition to its own publications, the studio frequently collaborates with artists across disciplines, continually exploring the possibilities of print as a medium. ︎ ︎

23    Your Local Newsstand [SG]

Your Local Newsstand is an independent publishing group based in Singapore specialising in publishing photography based imprints. Rooted in documentary and contemporary photography, their goal is to provide a platform for photographers to explore photography through the medium of zines and other printed matters. ︎ ︎


25    Angelica Ong 王歆惠 [SG]

Angelica Ong is a Singaporean artist working primarily in photography and artist books. Her practice explores time, language, materiality, and slow art, often through nature and the photographic image. She creates artist books that are sculptural, tactile, and materially driven, integrating meaning and making while pushing the boundaries of what a "book" can be. Her work has been exhibited internationally and her artist books are held in permanent collections including Ohio State University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has presented at artist book fairs in Singapore, Hong Kong, Miami, Seoul, Taipei, and more. ︎ ︎


26    The Goodwiller [JP]

The Goodwiller is a collaborative project that Taoka Misako and Saito Shiho started in 2019 in Portland, US. The project involves staging fashion shoots with garments purchased at second-hand stores, attaching original tags with serial numbers, and then returning the items to the stores where they were found. Through this cyclical act, The Goodwiller seeks to add new value and narratives to used clothing while creating a circulation system for second-hand goods. The project has been carried out in Portland, Tokyo, Paris, Seoul, and Bangkok in 2025. ︎ ︎

28    51 Personae [CN]

51 Personae is a self-sustaining independent art publishing project, believing that publishing is both an urgent and valid artistic practice. It places special emphasis on life experiences in Asia and the Third World, as well as marginalized voices under suppression, exploring the contemporary forms, possibilities and potential of "realism" in art as expressive actions. ︎


29    Tokyo Art Book Fair [JP]

TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR (TABF) was founded in 2009 as Japan’s first book fair dedicated to art publications. Held annually, it brings together independent publishers, galleries, bookshops, as well as individual artists and collectives. TABF serves as a platform for a diverse and international art publishing community.

For its 15th edition in 2025, TABF expanded to its largest scale, hosting approximately 560 exhibitors over two weekends.

Alongside this, TABF also organizes TOKIO ART BOOK FAIR, a smaller-scale format. As the most compact edition in TABF’s history, TOKIO focuses on smaller communities, fostering depth, intimacy, and a sense of friendship. ︎ ︎

30    DOOKS [JP]

Founded in 2014, DOOKS is an art book publisher that handles everything from design to sales. Their main priority is to showcase the artist’s work through editing and simplistic design, creating books with a sense of lightness and time. Rather than run a store, they prefer to work flexibly. ︎ ︎


31    JIAZAZHI [CN]

JIAZAZHI is an art organization on contemporary photography, with a focus on Chinese young artists. Their practice includes Magazine, Publishing, Exhibition and Library. ︎ ︎

PPIPPIPRESS is an independent publishing press based in Singapore that produces small-edition art books, zines, and creative printed matter. Founded and operated by Bryan and Jamie, the press blends photography, illustration, and design to tell stories rooted in everyday emotion and humor. ︎ ︎


34    DECK [SG]

DECK Photography Art Centre is a non-profit arts organisation based in Singapore, dedicated to advancing the appreciation and understanding of photography and lens-based practices. Since its founding in 2008, DECK has established itself as one of the region’s longest-running platforms for contemporary photography.

At the heart of its programming is the Singapore International Photography Festival (SIPF), a biennale that brings together artists, curators, and audiences through exhibitions, open calls for portfolios and photobooks, and critical discourse.

Now, at a pivotal juncture of growth and experimentation, DECK presents a year-round programme of artist residencies and curatorial projects at Shop-House, which resides at No. 4 & 6 Lorong 24 Geylang. Housed within a pair of beautifully conserved pre-war buildings, this sanctuary serves as a vital site for research, international and cultural exchange, and the development of new artistic voices. ︎ ︎


35    Perimeter Editions [AU]

Perimeter Editions is the award-winning publishing imprint of Melbourne-based bookstore Perimeter Books and distribution house Perimeter Distribution. Releasing its first publication in 2012, Perimeter Editions’ focus rests on publishing autonomous books in close collaboration with photographers, artists, curators, writers, and designers. Its publications exhibit a criticality and sensitivity to content, design, form, and materiality. ︎ ︎


36    Tara Books Pvt. Ltd. [IN]

Tara Books is a collective of writers, artists and designers, based in Chennai, south India. They publish illustrated and handmade books for children and adults. While they generate many of their titles in-house, they also work with artists, writers and designers across the world. Known for their richly illustrated books, they offer a unique list that includes titles in children’s literature, photography, graphic novels, art and art education. ︎ ︎

37    Good Neighbour/Manifold Books [NL]

Good Neighbour (GN) is a research platform based in Amsterdam since 2017, run by Martin La Roche, Dongyoung Lee, and Valeria Marchesini. GN defines itself primarily as a community of readers who share a communal interest in books seen as performative tools. The name ‘Good Neighbour’ is inspired by Aby Warburg’s ‘Law of the Good Neighbour’, a continuous system of thematic and serendipitous arrangements between books in a library. GN doesn’t seek to build a library; it makes time for appreciating existing ones.

Founded in 2015 by Maartje Fliervoet in her Amsterdam studio space, Manifold Books’ activities may be best described as a spatial investigation exploring connections between art and books. With each exhibition two existing publications with unique artists’ interventions are added to its book collection. ︎ ︎ ︎ ︎


38    NITESHA [JP]

NITESHA is a secondhand bookstore specializing in photography books, fashion, and art books in Tokyo. In 2017, NITESHA organized its inaugural exhibition. Subsequently, in 2018, it ventured into publishing and has since been expanding the scope of its activities each year. In 2020, NITESHA opened NITESHA KYOTO in Nishijin, Kyoto, serving as an art space with the concept of "Rediscovering the New in the Old". ︎ ︎


39    Ke Xu 许珂 [CN]

Ke Xu (b.1994), Beijing based visual artist whose primary media include images, printed materials, and readymades. Her practice focuses on constructing mechanisms between viewing and reading, knowledge production and information extension. Through this, she explores circulating concepts among mediums, the imaginative space between text and image, and the open-ended narratives generated. She received a Master’s degree in Distinction in Visual Arts (Book Arts) from Camberwell, University of the Arts London, in 2018. ︎ ︎

Thumb Books is a small independent press based in Singapore that makes children's books for both children and adults. ︎ ︎


41   Rizo Masr [EG]

Rizomasr, founded in 2021 is a contemporary print and design studio based in Maadi, Cairo with a specialization in risograph printing and a spectrum of design services. Beyond crafting visually stunning posters, zines, and brochures, their expertise spans comprehensive branding, editorial, and creative direction that breathes life into your vision. ︎ ︎


42    SUBURBIA PROJECTS [MY]

Suburbia Projects is an independent architecture publisher and bookseller based in the suburbs of Petaling Jaya. Founded in 2020 by Ashran Bahari and Naadiya Hani, the project emerged from a desire to expand the discourse around architecture, cities, culture, and the built environment through publishing, bookselling, exhibitions, and public programmes. Its catalogue brings together writings, drawings, conversations, and speculative works that examine architecture as a cultural and political practice, while fostering connections between practitioners, researchers, and readers across Malaysia, Southeast Asia and beyond.

Their publications are distributed internationally through Idea Books. ︎ ︎


43    Further Reading [ID]

Further Reading is an independent multi-format publishing platform with in-house risograph production and a distribution unit. It fosters discourse around design, connecting Southeast Asian perspectives with a global context.

Based in Bandung, Indonesia, Further Reading approaches publishing as dialogue, working across editorial, graphic, and spatial forms. Its projects treat reading as a collective, time-based experience that extends beyond the printed page. ︎ ︎


44    Gloria Glitzer & we make it  [JP]

Gloria Glitzer is the avatar and publishing practice of Franziska Brandt & Moritz Grünke. we make it is their Risography space in Berlin and a publisher too. With both projects they challenge the boundaries of independent self-publishing. They stand for self-expression, visibility, accessibility, and the radical democratization of art, politics, and information; through shared tools and collaborative processes. ︎ ︎ ︎ ︎
